User Flow
For Academic Achievement badges (Ultimate Achiever, Super Achiever and Achiever badges), the badge will be allocated (based on the criteria) once student’s marks for unit/MOY/EOY ASM are published for a subject by the teacher on the Teacher App. For the Student Effort badges (Practice Champ, Homework Champ, Attendance Champ), the badge will be allocated (based on the criteria) at the end of every month.
The allocated badges will be shared as a post in the Parent Feed on the LEAD Student & Parent App. The student’s full name will be mentioned on the badge.
- Parents will be notified via WhatsApp, Push notifications and in-app pop-ups when the badge is shared on the post
- Parents will be able to view, download and share the badge
Users will be able to add their photo to the badge by clicking the CTA in the post. The uploaded photo will be checked for any Celebrity pictures, lewd or explicit content, content with profanity and will be approved or rejected based on the same.
The photo will be moderated algorithmically (with a turnaround time of 2-3 seconds) and if required, via manual intervention (with a turnaround time of 2-3 days).
Once the photo is approved, a push notification is sent to the user
- Users will be able to share and download the badge post with the approved photo.
- All other badges of the user will also be automatically updated with the user’s photo.
- All future badges of the user will also be generated with the user’s photo
If the photo is rejected, the reason for rejection will be mentioned and the user will have to re-upload the photo.
Phase 1 Release Scope
- We will release the feature for a limited set of 100 schools and observe the response from these schools and parents. The list of schools can be found here
- Ultimate Learner and Super Learner badges will not be released in Phase 1
Future Scope
Based on feedback from Phase 1, we plan to launch Phase 2 for all schools at a later date (tentatively in the month of January). In Phase 2, we will launch the Ultimate Learner and Super Learner badges as well.
FAQs
- When will the students receive the badges?
For Academic Achievement badges (Ultimate Achiever, Super Achiever and Achiever), the allocation process will be triggered when the teacher publishes the ASM marks for the unit on the Teacher App.
For Student Effort badges (Practice Champ, Homework Champ and Attendance Champ), the allocation process will happen at the end of every month.
- What if the student name is incorrect on the badge?
Inform the user that the student’s name is picked from the school’s dashboard (Nucleus). Once corrected on the school’s dashboard (Nucleus), going forward the student’s name will show correctly on the content shared in the parent feed within the parent section. For the current post, nothing can be done.
- How can the user change their photo uploaded on the badge?
Once a photo is approved, the photo cannot be changed at the moment. In an upcoming release, we will launch a feature to change the uploaded photo (only one change every 30 days will be allowed)
- My photo was rejected, however I am not able to re-upload the photo?
Please raise this with tech/product and log an SUP with relevant user details.
- Student has uploaded the photo but the photo is not visible when they share the badge.
Please check if the photo has been approved. Sometimes it may take a few minutes for the photo to go through the approval process and the status will be shown as “In Review”. Please note, if the status is “In Review” or “Rejected”, the badge will be shareable without a photo, until the photo is approved. - Can one student receive multiple badges?
A student will receive any one of the Academic Achievement badges (Ultimate Achiever, Super Achiever or Achiever) based on the following priority: - Priority 0 - Ultimate Achiever
- Priority 1 - Super Achiever
- Priority 2 - Achiever
Only 1 of the above badges will be awarded to the student given the priority. For instance, a student who qualifies for priority 0 badge will not receive any other badge. Similarly, a student who qualifies for both priority 1 and priority 2 badges will only be awarded the priority 1 badge.
However in the case of Student Effort badges (Practice Champ, Homework Champ and Attendance Champ), there will be no priority. If the student qualifies for multiple badges, all of them will be awarded.
- Teacher or parent claims that their student is eligible for a particular badge but they have not received it.
If it is an Academic Achievement badge, please check if the actual ASM marks match the marks entered by the teacher on the Teacher App. Please raise this with tech/product and log an SUP with relevant user details.
- Does a photo need to be uploaded every time a new badge is received?
Once a photo is uploaded and approved, it will be stored in the system and automatically added to all the past badges and future badges that the student will receive. They need not upload again. - What happens if a student has received a badge for an ASM and marks are edited after that?
Whenever the teacher publishes marks from the Teacher App, the criteria will be checked and badges will be allocated if the criteria is met. If the teacher publishes multiple times for the same ASM, multiple badges may be generated, if the criteria is met. - Marks are published but the student did not receive badges or marks are published but incorrect badges have been received.

- There is a monthly automated cron that runs at the end of the month to check and allocate the Student Effort badges (Practice, Homework and Attendance). If there are any issues reported, what should be done?

- Can the photos uploaded by the student be used by the schools anywhere in their database?
There is no such provision at the moment. - Can schools upload photos on behalf of parents?
There is no such provision at the moment. - When will the feature be rolled out to all the schools (100% rollout)?
There is no date planned as yet. Based on user feedback and insights from the first phase launch, the complete rollout will be planned with suitable changes or improvements. Tentatively, this could be in January 2023 but this is only an indicative timeline and is subject to change. - Can schools opt out of this feature?
If any school is unhappy with this feature, please connect us with them so that we can understand the reasons behind the same. We can assess this on a case to case basis.
